The "Real" Dads Army has its origins in the Home Guard section of the Fort Newhaven Military Display Team, a multi unit World War 2 group founded in 1983. Various members had presented the historic mode of the Home Guard from time to time but in 1993 a serious attempt was made to compile a "hands on" tribute to Dads Army. The result being what is seen today as the only serious lookalike Dads Army Platoon.
